“Clinical Skills for Assessing and Prescribing Power Mobility Equipment”
This full day training workshop of power mobility fundamentals is designed for therapists new to power mobility assessment. It encapsulates all of the core principles and critical concepts involved in assessing for power wheelchairs and scooters. It is also an excellent refresher for experienced therapists wishing to consolidate their existing practice. This workshop is relevant for assessing driver competency. Under the BC Motor Vehicle Act, occupational therapists will have a duty and authority to report concerns of a person’s fitness to drive as a result of a medical condition or functional impairment. Participants will learn about current practice standards, explore the ethical and professional issues surrounding the prescription and ongoing monitoring of power mobility and learn how to apply the knowledge to everyday clinical practice.
