The 5Rhythms movement practice is based on a life-long powerful body of work by Gabrielle Roth.
The 5Rhythms are comprised of simple (yet vast and dynamic) movements designed to return the body to its natural state of aliveness, no matter what its shape, size, age, limitations or experience. To find your own dance is to find yourself, at your most fluid and creative level.
Rather than having steps to follow, each rhythm is a different energy field in which you find your own expression and choreography, stretching your imagination as well as your body. Each rhythm is a teacher and you can expect to meet different and sometimes unknown aspects of yourself as your dance unfolds and your practice of the rhythms deepens over time.
A course or class might be your weekly meditation or workout or simply your way to tune into the collective joy of being part of a group of people letting go and dancing. You are different every time you walk into the room, so is the group, and so is the teacher, therefore each class holds completely unique possibilities.
The 5Rhythms practice allows us to move as we are and watch change happen. You don’t need to do anything or know anything, just show up as you are, be willing to put your feet in motion and let the rest follow.
Anne Marie has been practicing and studying the 5Rhythms with Gabrielle Roth and Moving Center School faculty since 1999.
