The Rhythm of The Heart
June 23-25, 2017, Sechelt BC
Experiencing and expressing emotions are an essential part of life. Yet, for many of us, emotions remain mysterious, confusing, and difficult to express constructively. Some of us lash out and emotionally blow-up, others are emotionally stuck, frozen, and numb; some of us have our hearts open and others have our hearts on lock-down. Emotions are physical and instinctive and yet we can get trapped in mental stories and reactions that no longer serve us.
If we practice being with a spontaneous heart and getting emotionally fluid we can experience emotions serving an essential role; Fear protects; Anger defends; Sadness releases; Joy uplifts; and Compassion unites.
There is tremendous healing and transformation that can occur in simple and clear emotionally fluid expression.
In this weekend workshop we will explore the Rhythms of the Heart, to provide us access to a more full, alive, embodied expression of life, and to create more loving relationships with ourselves and others. Through the embodiment of the 5Rhythms practice you will be shown skills and techniques to take home and apply to your daily life. This workshop is designed for everyone; every age and shape.

Going underneath – to explore the amazing shadow aspect of each of the five rhythms.
Each of the five rhythms has a light and shadow side, both of which are amazing and beautiful – as they make up our humanity. By understanding what is underneath the essential rhythms – the light side – we can be more aware of when we encounter the shadows of resistance (flow),tension (staccato), confusion (chaos), disconnection (lyrical) and numbness(stillness) in ourselves and others. With exploration and curiosity we can discover how these shadows move and influence us and have the opportunity to free our body, open our hearts, still our minds and to access our innate creativity.
In this 3-hour afternoon immersion we will explore the shadow aspect of each of the five rhythms so we can be more fully present to our life. We will use the 5Rhythms as an ‘everyday’ practice, not just as a dance, but to increase our awareness and help create freedom and choice, embodiment and presence.
This workshop is open to anyone and any body (any size, shape, fitness level, age). No previous movement, 5Rhythms or other, experience is needed. All that is required is a sense of curiosity, openness, and willingness to move.
Anne Marie Hogya is an accredited 5RTA teacher and this workshop will qualify as 3 Wave hours on the 5Rhythms teacher training path.
